Dread Factory
A downloadable game for Windows
Playable prototype – VHS-style survival horror
I’ve been messing around with a little horror prototype called Dread Factory — a short, VHS-style first-person survival horror thing I threw together for fun. It’s loosely inspired by Ao Oni, Forest of Drifting Spirits, and those old-school, low-res Japanese horror vibes. You basically “play” a cursed VHS tape, and then weird stuff starts happening. Still super early, but there’s a playable demo if anyone wants to take a look
I’m just testing the waters with tone, pacing, and atmosphere. Just a dark, creepy space and something that’s… not quite right. I do have some ideas for where to go next (sanity system? multi-layered tape worlds? VHS corruption as gameplay?), but I’d really love to hear what parts you find interesting, boring, too vague, or maybe worth expanding. Would love any feedback — good, bad, or weird. I'm not precious about it. Just trying to explore a vibe and see what sticks. Cheers!

Hey! Thanks so much for taking the time to play through my game — really appreciate you sticking with it till the end.
Watching your playthrough helped a lot! I noticed a couple of issues:
The ghost face gets stuck a bit too easily...
The sound that’s supposed to play when you collect all the items didn’t trigger
I’ll make sure to fix those in the next update. Thanks again for playing!
This graphic style is one of my favourites. I accidentally found out where the head gets stuck. I just used it to get a better view of the course. Very well designed.
